The Christian faithful are to do penance through prayer, fasting, abstinence and by exercising works of piety and charity. IHM has a history of partnering with groups during Lent for those looking for charities.
IHM will continue the tradition of donating 150 Easter Baskets to children living at Mary’s Place in Minneapolis. We will be purchasing the supplies for the baskets and your donation helps to defray the cost. Donations can be placed in the collection basket, brought to the parish office or donate online HERE and “Seasonal Giving" "Easter Basket-Service Project”. For check donations, please note “Easter Baskets” in the memo line, and note “Easter Basket” on the envelope for monetary donations. Thank you for your past generosity for this project!
ICA FoodShare Campaign
IHM will have a table in the Gather Space for food collection now through Palm Sunday. To donate online, click HERE and "Outreach Ministries" and "ICA Foodshelf Mtka."
IHM will be partnering with Hennepin County’s Health Care for the Homeless which runs nine clinics at drop-in centers and homeless shelters plus manages an extensive outreach program for people sleeping in cars. We are collecting these specific items to help the homeless population meet their basic needs.
· Gift cards to Target or Walmart in increments of $10 to $25. Gift cards help to offset some of the basic needs of the homeless the shelter cannot provide.
· Laundry Soap
· There is also an additional need for NEW or GENTLY USED children's clothes (all sizes), boys coats and men's coats size Small and Medium, and men's shoes for Ecuadorian families.
Donations can be dropped off in the Gather Space, either on the table or the marked barrel. Note: Place gift cards the marked box on the table, drop in the collection basket or bring to the Parish Office.
Life Line Screening, the nation’s leading provider of preventive health screenings, will offer affordable, non-invasive and painless health screenings at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church on Wednesday, April 26. A package of four screenings to identify risk for stroke, heart disease and other chronic conditions will be offered:
Carotid Artery Screening (Plaque)
An ultrasound is performed to screen the carotid arteries (a pair of blood vessels in the neck that deliver blood to your brain) for buildup of fatty plaque. This buildup, called atherosclerosis, is one of the leading causes of stroke.
Peripheral Arterial Disease Screening
An Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) test is performed using blood pressure cuffs on the arms and legs. It is important to screen for PAD because it increases the risk of coronary artery disease, heart attack, or stroke.1
Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA)
An ultrasound is performed to screen the abdominal aorta for the presence of an enlargement or aneurysm. AAA can lead to a ruptured aortic artery, which is a serious medical emergency.
Atrial Fibrillation
A 6-lead electrocardiogram (EKG) is performed by placing sensors on the arms and legs to screen for Atrial Fibrillation. AFib can lead to blood clots, stroke, and heart failure, and other heart-related complications.2
These 4 vital screenings take 60-90 minutes to complete. Register by calling toll free 1-844-591-7160, text the word "circle" to 216-279-1607 or online at https://llsa.social/HC
