Minnesota FoodShare has announced a special food drive Oct. 25&26. You can participate by bringing a non-perishable food item to Mass with you this weekend. There will be a table in the gathering space for your donations. All food will go to ICA Foodshelf. Cash donations are also accepted by dropping them in the collection basket. Make sure they are clearly marked for ICA.
Join fellow IHM parishioners to prepare and serve dinner to guests at River of Life Lutheran Church (2200 Fremont Ave. North, Minneapolis) on Friday, October 24. We need help Preparing food from 2-4pm; Serving food and clean-up from 5:15-7:00pm and donating 1-2 pkgs of small individual boxes of raisins or 1-2 bags of baby carrots (see below). Please bring donated items to the parish office by 11:30 am on October 24. Please put carrots in the refrigerator in the box labeled Carrots for Loaves and Fishes.
ALSO Loaves and Fishes has moved to a "NO DESSERT" policy and is asking that we no longer bring sweet treats for the meal. Instead they have suggested serving more fruits and vegetables.
Thank you to all of you who have so generously provided brownies and cookies in the past. Once again changes are happening. We hope you continue to support Loaves and Fishes by contributing 1-2 packages of small individual serving boxes of raisins OR 1-2 bags of baby carrots. This will be an experiment. Let's try it!
During the month of October, we are taking part in a blanket drive to help Mary Jo Copeland and Sharing and Caring Hands. Many of their guests have no blankets or need another for a cold night. New, gently-used, clean blankets, quilts and comforters are greatly accepted. There are tables in the Gather Space and the Parish Office hallway for your donations. The October Remembrance luncheon that was postponed has now been rescheduled for Thursday, November 13 at noon. If you plan to attend, please call the parish office at 952-935-1432 to reserve your spot.
Members of IHM are welcome to participate in VIRTUS training. If you like to volunteer for the parish or school, interacting with children or vulnerable adults, this training is an essential requirement prior to beginning your volunteer opportunity. The sessions will be held Saturday, October 25th at 9:00 AM in the Fireside Room. Register now.
